John Butler Trio Tour across Australia includes the Union of Soul concert in Townsville on Sunday 12th September with The John Butler Trio joined by The Cat Empire, Blue King Brown and Mama Kin.
Despite a recent line up change, The John Butler Trio is as popular as ever with the band’s fifth studio album becoming the band’s third consecutive album to enter the charts at number one in Australia.
In September, Butler and his new band mates, Nicky Bomba (drums and percussion) and Byron Luiters (bass), will visit all capital cities and a host of major regional centres on the band’s largest Australian tour since the release of 2004’s Sunrise Over Sea.
Butler recently told FasterLouder that with his live shows he sets out “to change the world, it’s big, it’s clichéd, it’s bold, to me there’s no other point to make. You go ‘right what am I here to do’ and just fucking do it and if you can do that in a way that’s humble and do that in a way that’s confident then good, that’s the best way to do it.”
Blue King Brown will open all shows on the tour, with a set featuring tracks from the band’s new album Worldwize due for release August.
